On the other hand, if you’ve been using tubes for years, can read a schematic, and have assembled several amplifiers or preamplifiers, but never quite understood just what was going on in all that nice circuitry, then Bruce’s book can unveil all the mysteries of amplification which you have wondered about all this time.

One could easily assume that if someone was motivated enough to build his or her own audio gear, they would be motivated enough to take the first step on their own. It is a “teaching book,” a design reference, not a cookbook of recipies.

The book, however, went into overdrive for the remaining chapters, full of equations, electrical diagrams and charts that were not very well explained for a beginner.

I tried my darndest to provide a simple explanation for every term and concept used and felt I was successful at that task. Rozenblit, a graduate electronics engineer and contributing editor to Glass Audio magazine, is clearly in his element when describing the ins and outs of tube amplification circuits and designs – both modern and antique.
